Hartley's | Restaurant in Dun Laoghaire

In the heart of Dun Laoghaire, right on the water, sits the mouthwatering Hartley's restaurant.

Harley's

A nod to the extraordinary uniqueness of this restaurant, it occupies the space that was once Dun Laoghaire's Victoria Railway Station: a beautiful building which exudes grandeur inside and out, with a stunning decor and plenty of space inside. Hartley's has been running it's restaurant there for nearly 10 years now.

We visited the restaurant for lunch one day after taking Close to the Edge out for a trip to Dalkey. I've been a long time supporter of the restaurant, although I must admit I'd never actually dined there, I'd always been on-the-go and ordered out, and Cally had never been before.

Well, let's just say: we were immediately taken away by the beauty of dining room. It is truly a unique space with high ceilings and, all around, beautifully appointed. The service matched the high-standard of the aesthetics with each of our needs perfectly anticipated and everyone there incredibly pleasant.

Given that Hartley's is known for not only its food but also its cocktails, we started off by ordering a round of Harley's signature, eponymous cocktail: ‘The Hartley’. It's made with Kettle One vodka, fig liqueur, basil, elderflower, and Cranberry and it is out of this world.

For our meal we ordered hot and spicy chicken wings along with Korean Shredded Beef. Both were beautifully prepared and tasted delicious. The chicken wings were cooked using high quality free range chicken and were cover in a perfect amount of sauce. The Korean Shredded Beef was flavourful and light yet filling. The beef was perfectly prepared and the Korean sauces were absolutely delicious. For dessert we had the Hot Chocolate Fudge Sundae which was...unbelievable and the perfect way to end such an amazing meal.

All told: we had an amazing experience and highly encourage all to give Hartley’s a visit should you find yourself in Dun Laoghaire at any point (or maybe think about just planning a trip to Dun Laoghaire so that you can check out Hartley's). We will definitely return and try out other items on the fantastic menu, and we can't wait for the warm weather so that we can sip those delicious cocktails on the beautiful Hartley's Terrace.
